happy thanksgiving

I actually wrote this post yesterday morning, but waited to post it. I hope you enjoy and really remember we all have so much to be thankful for during this season and all year round.

With my coffee by my side, a hot cinnamon roll just eaten and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade playing in front of me, I decided to complete this fun little Thanksgiving questionnaire from Ashley over at The Shine Project.

1. Who do I appreciate? Wow. I appreciate everyone in my life who has contributed to propelling me in the direction of my dreams—my family, my friends, my professors, mentors and bosses.

2. How am I fortunate? In so many ways. I am fortunate that I have parents who pray for me daily, for the opportunities the Lord has graced me with and for the future I am looking forward to.

3. What material possessions am I thankful for? I am thankful for my computer—to complete assignments and stay connected. For my cell phone, so that I have instant access to anyone in a time of need. I’m thankful for a roof over my head and for a car that allows me to travel.

4. What abilities do I have that I’m grateful for? I am thankful for the ability to communicate with those around me. I’m thankful for the ability to love and the ability to work hard.

5. What about my surroundings (home/neighborhood/city/etc.) am I thankful for? Right now, at the beach, I am thankful for the warm sun and the cool breeze. I am thankful that my family is here with me and that we can all relax and enjoy each other’s company.

6. What experiences have I had that I am grateful for? I am most thankful for the experiences, both good and bad, that have allowed my family to become closer. I am thankful for experiences that have challenged and pushed me and for the experiences that have uncovered passions.

7. What happened today/yesterday/this week/this month/this year that I am grateful for? I am grateful that the Lord has placed an incredible community around me this year through my small group and I am thankful for friends who encourage me.

8. What opportunities do I have that I am thankful for? With graduation just around the corner, I am thankful for the opportunity to carry a degree with me for the rest of my life. I am thankful for the opportunities I have each day to share the Lord’s love with those around me.

9. What have others in my life done that I am thankful for? Support, encourage, love. I am thankful for people who share their time, knowledge, love and care with me.

10. What have others done that I am benefiting from in my life (even if I don’t know who those people are)? Wow, I am thankful for my dad and his hard-working nature. I am thankful for my mother’s love. Without their support, I would not be where I am today.

11. What relationships am I thankful for? I am most thankful for the relationships in my life! I am constantly in awe of the people the Lord has placed in my life, especially in these last few years. I am thankful for a strong community I have in Athens and I am thankful for a strong relationship with my grandparents—whom I love dearly!

12. What am I taking for granted that, if I stop to think about it, I am grateful for? Knowing that I will have 3 meals each and every day. Knowing that I have clean water at any time and never have to worry about the day-to-day activities like showering, brushing my teeth, etc.

13. What is there about the challenges/difficulties I have experienced (or am currently experiencing) that I can be thankful for? (e.g., What have I learned? How have I grown?) I have learned that the Lord really is there when I need him and sometimes my understanding is not enough. His strength is made perfect in my weakness. I have learned to embrace my challenges, and even when it is hard, to lean on Him and TRUST in His provision.

14. What is different today than it was a year ago that I’m thankful for? Today, I am thankful for my job at See.Spark.Go. Their presence in my life has made a huge difference in my life and I am so thankful for the impact they have had on my life since January.

15. What insights have I gained that I am grateful for? Insights. What an open-ended question! I am thankful for the insight that life is short and that my life here is defined by how I choose to impart grace and love to those in the day-to-day. I am thankful for page 42 of Crazy Love and for my small group girls who I learn something new from each week.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I would love to hear what you are thankful for today. Choose a question and leave the answer in the comments or send it in a note :)
